Terms of Service

AlphaLedgerCo · Last updated October 5, 2026

These terms govern your use of Clarity, operated by AlphaLedgerCo, registered in Canada. By creating an account you agree to them.

What Clarity is

Clarity is a tool for recording and understanding your own money: you enter your income and expenses, and the app organises them, shows you where things stand, and helps you plan.

Clarity is NOT financial, tax, investment or legal advice. The figures, forecasts, tax estimates and AI-written summaries are informational. Decisions about your money are yours, and for anything important you should talk to a qualified professional in your country.

Your account

You need an account to use Clarity, and you are responsible for keeping access to it secure. One account is for one person; do not share your credentials.

You must be old enough to enter into a contract where you live.

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter. Clarity shows you your own numbers — if the input is wrong, the output will be too.

Subscription and payment

Some features require a paid subscription. Prices are shown before you pay and are billed through Stripe.

Free trial: new accounts get one 30-day free trial with everything unlocked. No card is needed to start it and nothing is charged during it. Each account gets one free trial.

If you add a card during your free trial, your subscription starts when the trial ends: the price of your plan is charged on that date and then every month until you cancel. If you do not add a card, the trial simply ends and nothing is charged.

Before you add a card during your trial, Billing shows the price and the date and time of your first charge, and you confirm it. We then email you a confirmation, and reminders about 7 days and again about 2 days before that first charge (when there is still time — if you add your card later than that, the confirmation is your reminder). When a paid subscription starts, we also email you a confirmation with the date and time of the next charge.

Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period until you cancel. Billing shows the date and time of your next charge. Cancel at least 24 hours before it to be safe — and if you cancel at any moment before the charge, you will not be charged. Access continues until the end of the period you already paid for.

If a payment fails, we email you after each attempt that does not go through, Billing and your Home screen tell you the date and time by which to update your card, we keep trying for 7 days, and you keep full access meanwhile. If you update your card while a payment is pending, we charge the pending amount to the new card right away; you can also pay it yourself from Billing. If it still has not gone through after those 7 days, we cancel the subscription and do not collect that payment, and your account becomes read-only: you can still see, export and delete everything. Subscribe again at any time to pick up exactly where you left off.

Some plans include places for other people in a shared Household. The person who creates the Household is the one who pays, and is the only one who can invite or remove people or close it. The people invited do not pay and do not need their own subscription while that plan is active.

If that subscription ends there is a grace period — unless it ends because a payment failed, where the 7 days above are the only margin — and after it the shared Household becomes read-only. Nothing in it is deleted: everyone in it can still read and export everything, and each person’s own personal book is unaffected either way.

See our Refund Policy for what happens to the period in progress.

Acceptable use

Do not:

  • Use Clarity for anything unlawful.
  • Try to access another person’s account or data.
  • Attack, overload or reverse-engineer the service.
  • Resell access to Clarity without our written agreement.

Availability

We work to keep Clarity available and correct, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change or discontinue features; if we discontinue something you depend on, we will tell you in advance and give you a way to export your data.

Liability

Clarity is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using Clarity and delete your account at any time.

We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, and will explain why unless the law prevents us.

Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Canada and the province in which AlphaLedgerCo is registered.
